The annual celebration of Victory Day as a national holiday is a tribute to the heroism and glorious military traditions of the illustrious fathers.
During the Great Patriotic War, together with citizens of 15 allied countries of the former Soviet Union from Tajikistan, 250,000 residents of this sunny country voluntarily went to the front and surrendered to Hitler’s fascism to ensure victory. Of these, more than 90,000 died, and 57 envoys of Tajikistan were awarded the title of Supreme Hero of the Soviet Union for their unique exploits. More than 20,000 Tajik soldiers were awarded orders and medals. “Today and henceforth, we are proud to remind you that along with all the peoples who fought against fascist tyranny, the worthy youth of Tajikistan also made a worthy contribution to ensuring the historical victory,” the leader of the nation said in his speech dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory Day.
Indeed, we are proud that Tajikistan, since the beginning of the war, has played a tireless role in sending more than 300,000 brave soldiers to the front on the Equinox, as well as in providing the Soviet army with clothing and food for victory in the Great Patriotic War. Victory Day celebrations are especially important for fostering the spirit of patriotism and self-knowledge, loyalty to one’s state and people, courage and bravery, and educating the younger generation. And each of us is obliged to remember the name of those who sacrificed their lives in order to live a peaceful life. In this regard, the head of state expressed the following opinion: “May 9 is a Day of Joy and Commemoration of those who gave their lives for the freedom of nations.” free
